The University of Virginia has defeated Virginia Tech in this year’s “Commonwealth Clash.” The Cavaliers clinched the win Sunday afternoon when UVA outperformed the Hokies at the ACC men’s golf tournament. That victory gave the Wahoos a 12-7 advantage in the point standings.
UVA was helped by earlier results in men’s and woman’s basketball, soccer, tennis, and women’s swimming. Coach George Gelnovatch and the NCAA Men’s Championship Soccer squad (pictured) contributed to the Wahoos’ cause. The only sports in which points have not been awarded for this academic year are the ACC men’s and women’s outdoor track and field competitions. Those events begin next month in Tallahassee, Florida. The sponsor of the Commonwealth Clash is “Virginia529”, which is a college savings plan.
