New Charlottesville Fire Chief Now On Duty

Charlottesville’s new fire chief, who cuts the cake for his predecessor above, took his oath of office before family and many of his new colleagues Monday afternoon.

Andrew Baxter came to Charlottesville after joining the Henrico County Fire Department back in 1995, where he served as everything from firefighter to Assistant Chief of Professional Services. His new job may be a change when it comes to duties and rank, but he’s lived in Albemarle for more than two decades.

He replaces Charles Werner, who was with the Charlottesville Fire Department for 37 years.
