CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – An Albemarle County jury is recommending life-plus in prison after finding a Charlottesville man guilty of first-degree murder and firearms charges in the killing of his estranged fiancee a year ago this month. 35-year old Cardian Omar Eubanks was found guilty Tuesday of going to 34-year old Amanda Bates’ parents house March 24, 2018 in the 3500 block of Richmond Road — which is near the Glenmore entrance in eastern Albemarle.
Bates was found dead in her car in the driveway with three gunshots to her head. A release from Commonwealth’s Attorney Robert Tracci says she had moved away from Eubanks after ending the relationship.
He’ll be formally sentenced August 5th.
