City Officials Endorse Historic District Status For Rugby Road

It’s the most famous street in the city’s Venable neighborhood. The Charlottesville Planning Commission wants to designate Rugby Road as an historic district. The city planners are focusing on the 100 to 600-block of Rugby. That stretch is the home of many fraternity and sorority houses, the Beta Bridge, and places with UVA affiliations, such as Madison House. PiKA, a fraternity at 513 Rugby, would be affected by historic district status. The Venable Neighborhood Association supports making that stretch of Rugby an historic district.
