CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – The Albemarle County Electoral Board has promoted current Deputy Registrar Lauren Eddy to become the county’s new General Registrar and Director of Elections when Jake Washburne retires at the end of the month. Washburne, in a statement, said he cannot think of anyone more qualified as she’s been deputy 15 of the 17 years she’s worked in the county registrar’s office.

A board release says as the deputy, she has managed the daily operations of the voter registration and elections office, worked extensively with Registrars’ offices across the Commonwealth, and helped implement the recent changes in early in-person voting and no-excuse voting by mail.
