Police-Involved Shooting In Harrisonburg

A 23-year-old man is dead and two Harrisonburg police officers are on administrative leave after a shooting near Eastern Mennonite University. Harrisonburg Police say Michael Thomas Pierce, Jr., was shot after he failed to obey the officers’ commands to drop his weapon. The deadly incident happened shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Several streets near EMU were blocked off for several hours Sunday morning.
