One Conviction Against Maureen McDonnell Overturned

A federal judge has overturned one conviction against Maureen McDonnell but he’s making no changes to most of the charges against her.
Judge James Spencer has tossed a jury’s decision that said the former First Lady tried to obstruct justice. He says federal prosecutors did not prove she attempted to mislead a grand jury.

Spencer also rejected a request from McDonnell and her husband who wanted to throw out all of the charges against the couple. Maureen McDonnell is now guilty of eight counts instead of nine. Her husband, former Governor Bob McDonnell (pictured right) will be sentenced in five weeks. Mrs. McDonnell (pictured left) will hear her sentence in mid-February.
