Albemarle property owners can expect larger property tax bills in the future. The Board of Supervisors voted 4-2 on Tuesday for a tax rate that’s 81.9 cents for every $100 in assessed value. That’s a penny higher than the rate County Executive Tom Foley had proposed. It’s a half-cent less than the rate the supervisors advertised in an April 1st public hearing.
Vice-Chairwoman Liz Palmer (pictured) was on the prevailing side, along with Diantha McKeel, Brad Sheffield and Ann Mallek. Supervisors Ken Boyd and Jane Dittmar voted against increasing the property tax rate.
