CHARLOTTSVILLE (WINA) – After 15 trips over 7 years to Africa, former University of Virginia basketball coach Joanne Boyle’s adoption of her daughter Ngoty Rain Boyle is official. Boyle retired in March of last year after coaching the Wahoo women for 7 years — fresh off leading them to their first NCAA tournament in her tenure.
She confirms to ESPN.com when they landed at Dulles Airport around 6:30 the morning of August 30th on a flight from Dakar, Senegal… Ngoty officially became an American citizen. This caps a tumultuous period of dealing with myriad bureaucrats involving adoption of a child from a country with limited infrastructure.
