A man has been charged with several offenses after a woman says she was assaulted and held against her will in a hotel on Emmet Street. Charlottesville Police say 35-year-old Derrick Rondell Payne (pictured) is charged with felonious assault, strangulation, abduction and assault and battery.
A woman told police she was with Payne last Friday and he would not let her leave the hotel room. The victim suffered minor injuries and was able to leave Saturday morning. She reported the alleged incident Tuesday.
Payne was arrested early Wednesday in Fork Union.
