Many Hopefuls Want Their Party’s Nod For Open House Seats

Virginia has two congressional seats where the incumbents are stepping down, and there’s no shortage of candidates to replace them.  Republican Frank Wolf will leave Capitol Hill after 34 years, and the GOP will hold a firehouse primary in late April to pick his successor. Delegates Barbara Comstock of McLean and Bob Marshall (pictured) of Prince William County want to replace Wolf.  They appear on a long list of candidates for the Tenth District Republican nomination.  The Eight District Democrats will hold a June 10th primary to choose a successor for retiring Congressman Jim Moran. One of the declared candidates is Don Beyer, who was a Democratic Lieutenant Governor during the 1990’s. Beyer could be competing with at least one current state senator and several Democratic members of the House of Delegates.
