A medical school building at the University has a new name. The structure previously known as Jordan Hall has been renamed in honor of Dr. Vivian Pinn (pictured left), a graduate of the UVA medical school.
Pinn became the first African-American woman to head an academic pathology department in the nation when she assumed that role at Howard University. Pinn went on to become the first full-time director of the Office of Research on Women’s Health at the National Institutes of Health.
