CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – Food Lion stores have a grand opening of its 23 stores in the Charlottesville area and in the Valley after the company spent more than $40-million on renovations. Company President Meg Ham at a press conference at the Mill Creek Drive store says they’ve not only invested in the stores physically, but have also hired some 400 new workers to help your checkout experience go more quickly. Mill Creek store manager Josh Wolfe says the goal is being the quickest grocery checkout experience in the Southeast.

Wolfe says they’re expanding deli offerings, including a new “wing bar”. Ham says they have also expanded their organic and natural offerings under the Nature’s Promise brand.  Also, the Mill Creek store and the store in Ruckersville have new walk-in produce coolers. These are specially designed, chillier rooms that keep produce fresh longer.

From our expanded variety and product assortment, newly reorganized stores, to a more efficient check-out experience, every change we’ve made will make it easier for our customers to find the quality products they have come to expect from Food Lion. When coupled with our weekly sales and promotions, customers will see that we have made it easier for them to nourish their families with healthy foods on a budget.”
