Newsradio 1070 WINA has won five awards from the Associated Press Broadcasters for being the best in Virginia and West Virginia combined. WINA won a superior award for Best Website in the non-metro category. Meritorious awards were presented for the Douglas Southall Freeman Award for Public Service Through Radio Journalism (Les Sinclair, “Charlottesville Right Now”), Best News Operation of the Year (Rob Graham, Chris Callahan), Best Year-Round Sports (Jay James, Luke Neer, Channing Poole, Kelly Lloyd, John Freeman), and Best Radio News Anchor of the Year (Rob Graham).
