One dead in early morning Pantops motorcycle-pedestrian crash

PANTOPS (WINA) – Albemarle Police say a pedestrian is dead in an early morning crash that closed eastbound Richmond Road for more than 4 hours just before the morning drive. Police say they responded shortly after 2am to a call of a vehicle crash on eastbound 250 at Hansen Road. They arrived to find a motorcycle had struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian died at the scene, and the motorcyclist was taken to UVa Hospital in serious condition.

What happened remains under investigation, and they’re still notifying kin before releasing the name of the deceased.

This is the 6th fatal crash in Albemarle County of 2021.
