CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – It’s been pandemic-delayed, but UVa and NBA basketball legend Ralph Sampson will be opening his 2nd Charlottesville area restaurant venture next month. Ralph Sampson’s American Taproom will be in the old Zinburger location that shut down at Barracks Road Shopping Center last year. It was April of last year, Ralph and some partners bought The Corner staple The White Spot… and now he’s ready to open this 2nd venture after some delays with supply chain and other issues.

He’s working with Thompson Hospitality from northern Virginia founded by Darden School alum Warren Thompson. They run 11 restaurants there.

This restaurant is billed as an “unparalleled experience in sports entertainment and dining with fresh, high-quality food with a sports bar vibe”.
