ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (ACPD) – After an exhaustive search of the area, Albemarle County Police Department has lifted the Shelter in Place alert. Police will continue to have a presence in the area.

An Emergency Custody Order (ECO) gave ACPD the authority to detain Dylan Gregory Harvey. ECOs are issued for a specific time period, which has elapsed and so the ECO is now expired.

Based on information gathered during the investigation into this incident and after further conversation with his family, we have no reason to believe Mr. Harvey is a danger to the public. However, we remain concerned for his well-being.

We appreciate the community’s patience and diligence throughout this incident.
