Two dead in Plank Road crash

NORTH GARDEN (WINA) – Albemarle Police are trying to figure out what caused a double-fatal crash on Plank Road in North Garden — about two miles west of 29. Police say they — along with the North Garden Volunteer Fire Company — were called shortly after midnight to a single-vehicle crash in the 5800 block of Plank Road. Crews arrived at the scene to find a 4-door sedan that had been going eastbound somehow crashed into a tree. The driver and a passenger were dead at the scene.

As of noon Wednesday, the names were still being withheld pending notification of families.

This is Albemarle County’s 5th fatal traffic crash of 2020.
