Two suspects have been arrested on drug and gun charges in Nelson County. Alice Faye Hutton and James Edward Mason are both from the Tye River area.
The Nelson Sheriff’s Office says Hutton and Mason face charges related to methamphetamine, marijuana, hash oil, and oxycodone, as well as being convicted felons with a gun.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office has made multiple arrests in an ongoing drug investigation in the County. The Investigation began in March 2016 and has concluded with the arrest of Alice Faye Hutton and James Edward Mason both from the Tye River area of Nelson County. The two were charged with multiple drug and weapons charges to include possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute hash oil, possession of oxycodone, possession of a firearm in possession of a schedule I/II drug and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The two are currently being held in jail without bond.
Sheriff D.W. Hill stated, “I promised to go after those who choose to sell drugs in Nelson County. We want to send a clear message that we will protect our community from this threat. We will keep our county safe for everyone who lives, works or visits this great place.”
