UVA Revokes Agreements With Pi Kappa Alpha And Sigma Nu

Photo: WINA

The University of Virginia plans to revoke agreements with two fraternities that have been part of Wahoo life since the 19th century. UVA officials are not saying much about their actions against Pi Kappa Alpha and Sigma Nu, but they indicate they are in hot water because of the new member education process. That’s another way of saying hazing. Those who live in the PiKA and Sigma Nu houses are allowed to stay until their current leases expire. For a Greek house to be recognized by UVA, it must have a fraternal organization agreement. That lets it take part in activities coordinated by UVA’s Inter-Fraternity Council, garner support from the Office of the Dean of Students, and reserve space in university buildings. UVA does not plan to consider applications from either PiKA or Sigma Nu (pictured) until May 2016 at the earliest..
