Virginia Intermont College in Bristol has been sold for $3.3 million. The man with the winning bid represents a New York-based company that operates a college overseas in China.

George Xu hopes to renovate the private school and reopen it as a four-year college. Xu says his firm is aware of the maintenance issues at Virginia Intermont. His goals include getting accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
