Weather Service Confirms 7 Va. Tornadoes

The National Weather Service has confirmed seven tornadoes touched down in Virginia during the storms Wednesday. Meteorologists have added a twister in Mecklenburg County near the North Carolina border and another in Lancaster County near the Rappahannock River. They were classified as EF1 with wind speed up to 100 mph.

Other confirmed tornadoes were in Fluvanna, Appomattox, Sussex, Essex and Patrick counties. Four people were killed in Virginia when tornadoes stretching from Southside Virginia to the coastal plain hit the state.
