CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Tom Sox have released their 36-game schedule for this coming summer that features more emphasis on in-division matchups, and a new Valley Baseball League playoff format, as the team’s quest for a fifth league title.

The regular season slate is highlighted by 18 home games at Charlottesville High School, 13 of them weekend dates.

The season starts Friday, May 29 at Waynesboro, and the first home game is Sunday, May 31 against Woodstock.

2026 is headlined by 30 in-division games. Each team will play the five other division opponents six times – three at home and three away. There will be only six out-of-division games – three at home and three away,” the team announced. “The location for out-of-division games alternates on a year-by-year basis.”

“Both Mondays and Tuesday are now days off and are reserved for “rainout days” – without a match on the calendar, contributing to the 36 game schedule rather than the previous 42 games.”

The Tom Sox won’t play on July 4, but it will host games against Staunton and Winchester on July 3 and July 5.

The 2026 season will also see the debut of a new playoff format for the Valley League. The top four teams in each division will reach the postseason, where they will play three rounds of best-of-three series.
