New Speed Cameras in Albemarle School Zones at Hydraulic and Lambs Roads Now Active on a Warning Basis

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 45-day warning period started the Tuesday after Labor Day as Albemarle County has activated speed cameras in designated school zones on Hydraulic Road adjacent to the Lambs Lane campus. This is where Albemarle High, Journey Middle, and Greer Elementary are.

Albemarle Police Special Ops Captain Jason Marden tells Morning News they’re issuing warnings through October 18 to anyone caught by the cameras doing 10-miles over the school zone speed limit during weekdays the lights are activated. Captain Marsden says this comes down to using as many of the means available to make the roads as safe as possible.
