Amy Rose Carroll, of Barboursville, Virginia passed away on June 18, 2024, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Amy was born in Fairport, NY on September 10, 1964. She was the daughter of Alan R. Gaige and Sally A. Gaige (nee Ferris) of Earlysville, Virginia. Amy was preceded in death by her father, mother, first husband Leigh G. Carroll, only daughter Alyssa R. Carroll, and eldest son Justin M. Carroll.
Amy was raised in Ridgefield, Connecticut. She was the middle daughter between her sisters Missy and Suzy. Amy married Leigh in 1988 and they had three children: Justin, Ryan, and Alyssa. Leigh owned a successful carpet business and Amy held many positions in her career until she had Justin and then opened her own day care. Tragically, Leigh passed away in 2002, a victim of cancer. Amy moved her family from New Milford to Albemarle County, Virginia to be close to her parents. She found employment at Sperry Marine (now Northrop Grumman) as a Contract Administrator. While at Sperry Marine, Amy met Steve Campbell, a retired Naval Officer; a new romance occurred. Amy and Steve were married in October 2007. Amy enjoyed travel, cooking, gardening, and hanging out with her immediate and extended family. Amy loved spending time near the water, lake or beachside, it didn’t matter; she was always planning the next family vacation (which often included her sister’s entire families, her best friend since grade school, Debbie Nelson, and Debbie’s daughter Jenna). She shared her family’s love of sports – there was always a game playing in the background. Amy loved animals and encouraged collecting quite the menagerie that includes cats, dogs, macaws, chickens, ducks, donkeys, pigs, and Nigerian Dwarf goats. She enjoyed sharing her fresh eggs with family and friends. Amy especially adored her dogs Daisy and Luna.
Amy is survived by her husband Steve Campbell of Barboursville, Virginia, son Ryan Carroll and his wife Anne Marie of Indianapolis, Indiana, Michelle L. Ragaglia and her husband, Bruce, of Midlothian, Virginia, Suzanne M. Parolisi and her husband, Raymond, of Phoenix, Arizona, uncle Charles Ferris of Saratoga Springs, New York, and all her nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved her and will miss her competitive game playing and quick-witted humor.
