Charlottesville Man Arrested After Brandishing Weapon Near City Hall

CHARLOTTEVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A Charlottesville man is in custody after allegedly brandishing a firearm at a city employee on Monday, September, 2024.

The Charlottesville Police Department says it happened on the Downtown Mall in the area of the City Hall Annex.

Officers quickly responded and located Toreke Barbour not far away with the firearm discovered on his person. The victim was no injured.

Barbour was taken to the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail where he was held in custody on the following charges:

 § 18.2-308.2 – Convicted Violent Felon in possession of a firearm

§ 18.2-308.2 – Concealed carry by a convicted felon

§ 18.2-282 – Brandishing a firearm
