CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A 26-year-old Culpeper County man died in a traffic crash on I-64 on Afton Mountain early Wednesday morning, according to the Virginia State Police.

Gabe L. Frye, 26, of Boston, VA was driving a 1999 Chevy Silverado westbound in the right lane down Afton Mountain in Augusta County around 12:25 a.m. Wednesday when he lost control of the vehicle around mile marker 98.

The vehicle went off the right side of the road, struck an embankment, and overturned multiple times, and Frye was ejected.

He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation, and VSP said Frye was not wearing a seat belt.
