Fire guts Hammocks Gap Rd. home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – A fire ravaged a house east of Pantops on Tuesday night, but the three occupants of the home were able to escape without injury, according to an Albemarle County Fire rescue release.

Firefighters were called to the 800 block of Hammocks Gap Road off Stony Point at 6:07 p.m. and arrived on the scene 11 minutes later to find heavy flames and smoke showing from the roof of a two-story home.

ACFR deemed the structure a total loss.

The residents are being assisted by the Red Cross as the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Albemarle Fire Marshal’s office.
