Fluvanna Sheriff makes arrest in two-and-a-half year old murder case

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Fluvanna County Sheriffs Department has made an arrest in a two-and-a-half year old murder case on Ridge Road.

A special grand jury Tuesday issued indictments on second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of felony charges and subsequently arrested Maurice Lecroy Brown at his residence without incident on Wednesday, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Brown is currently held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.

At 3 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2023, deputies, along with Fire & Rescue, arrived at a property on Ridge Rd. to find 43-year old Johnnie Antoine Brown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Life-saving measures were immediately administered, but Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation has remained ongoing.
