CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW)- Drivers in Albemarle County should prepare for traffic changes starting June 22 as the Virginia Department of Transportation will begin a three-day project to convert the intersection of Greenbrier Dr. and Hillsdale Dr. into a mini roundabout.

The work is designed to improve safety and traffic flow and is expected to wrap up by the evening of June 24, weather permitting.

Construction will happen in two phases, with daytime closures between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

During the first phase, most of the intersection will be closed, and Hillsdale Dr. traffic will be detoured.

In the second phase, one westbound lane on Greenbrier Dr. will close while flaggers direct traffic.

New signs and pavement markings will be installed to help drivers navigate the new roundabout.
