New Court Date Set for Boyd Tinsley Following DWI Arrest


ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (CVILLERIGHTNOW) – A new court date has been set for Boyd Tinsley, violinist in the original lineup of the Dave Matthews Band.

Tinsley is charged was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a two-vehicle crash near Seminole Trail (U.S. 29) and Woodbrook Drive on the evening of June 24, 2024. A hearing slated for July 1 was continued. His first hearing will now take place on October 15. He remains free on bail. In addition to DWI, he is also charged with following too closely and driving with an expired registration. No injuries were sustained in the crash.

Tinsley was a member of the Dave Matthews Band from 1992 until 2018. He left the band amid allegations of sexual assault made by a trumpeter from his side project, Crystal Garden. The two parties reached a financial settlement in 2019.
