CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Temperatures in the Albemarle County and Charlottesville are expected to reach record highs over the next three days.
While the National Weather Service has not yet issued a heat advisory, Accuweather forecasters advise limiting outdoor activities in the afternoons.
The Monday Accuweather forecast in the Charlottesville area is a high temperature of 96, which breaks a record high for that date set in 1911 and tied in 1962 of 95 degrees.
Tuesday’s forecast ups the high temperature a notch with a high of 97. That would break the record high of 96, also set in 1911.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for a high of 96 degrees, which would break the mark of 95 set in 1934 and repeated in 1996.
The current heat index of just over 100-degree falls below the NWS Baltimore/Washington threshold of 105-to-109 east of the Blue Ridge for heat advisory, but Accuweather advises caution, nonetheless.
Temperatures are expected to drop and be in the 60s on Thursday and Friday.
