CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The Charlottesville Tom Sox (17-5) earned a 3-2 win against the Waynesboro Generals (9-13) on Friday at Charlottesville High School.
Chase Stryker recorded seven strikeouts, and Robbie Lavey hit a walk-off two-run home run.
The game began with an injury to Tom Sox starting pitcher Tommy Roldan, which led to an early Waynesboro run. Garrett Mason relieved Roldan and prevented further damage.
Ethan Sutton pitched two innings before exiting with an elbow injury in the fourth. Stryker then pitched 4.2 innings, allowing one run and striking out seven.
Charlottesville’s offense was initially quiet, but Johnnie Lopez scored in the fifth inning, reducing the Generals’ lead to 2-1. In the bottom of the ninth, Dean Mihos walked, and Lavey hit a two-run home run to secure the win.
The Tom Sox will participate in the VBL All-Star Weekend before playing in Harrisonburg on Monday.
