UVA announces contract extensions for four head coaches

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Four head coaches have signed contract extensions to remain in their positions at UVA the school announced Friday. Mark Allen of men’s and women’s squash, Steve Garland of wrestling, Ole Keusgen of Field Hockey and Shannon Wells of volleyball have each extended their deals with the university.

Allen, now extended through June 2030, has led the squash programs to five conference titles since it was elevated to a varsity program in 2017. Garland, a former All-American wrestler for Virginia and the winningest coach in program history, was extended to April 30, 2029. Keusgen has led field hockey to an NCAA semifinal in 2023 since taking over as head coach that same year, and signed his extension through December 2030. Wells, signed through January 2030, just finished her fifth season as head coach oversaw the program’s first postseason since 1999 in 2024.
