CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW/UVA TODAY) – University of Virginia Foundation CEO Tim Rose has announced he’s retiring June 30 from the position he’s held since 1993. Rose arrived at the University of Virginia as a graduate student in 1987, and became leader of the Foundation just six years later. His bio says “Rose formerly served as an Assistant Vice President for Administration at UVA and has held positions in student affairs at Miami University and James Madison University. Mr. Rose received his undergraduate and masters degrees from Miami University and his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.”

The UVA Foundation oversees “approximately 5,200 acres for the University of Virginia, including Boar’s Head Resort and Birdwood Golf Course, Morven Farms, and the Historic Renovation Corporation. In addition to these real estate projects, the Foundation provides financial management assistance to the University’s Capital Campaign and develops and manages North Fork.” UVA Today reports the Foundation’s most recent projects have been purchase in multiple acquisitions over the last 20 years about 14.5-acres of the Emmet-Ivy Corridor, a portion of which is now home to the School of Data Science with Virginia Guest House to come this year. This is a 214-room hotel and conference center with 25,000 square-feet of meeting space, a UVA Visitors’ Center, a full service restaurant, and a rooftop venue. The Karsh Institute of Democracy will move into a new 65,000 square-foot building under construction expected to be completed next year.

The article says “the foundation Rose oversees has grown considerably from its attic space. It now manages more than $1 billion in assets with annual revenues topping $100 million. That includes about 5,000 acres of land and buildings totaling approximately 2 million square feet.”
