Monday 5/22 News At Noon

Kim Churchill–“Breakneck Speed”: The Australian blues, folk, and rock musician, singer and songwriter’s new single. He started playing guitar at age 4 and was classically trained for 10 years.

Muse–“Dig Down”: The song is featured in the new CW season preview ads and the actual video is out now. Matt Bellamy says that when he was writing the song he “was looking to counteract the current negativity in the world and give inspiration, optimiasm, and hope to the people who fight for the causes they believe in; that as individuals we can choose to change the world if we want to.”

RAC feat. Rivers Cuomo–“I Still Wanna Know”: Rivers Cuomo of Weezer is featured on the track from RAC’s new album, Ego, which drops in July. RAC is Andre Allen Anjos and he will be in DC in October.

Demob Happy–“Dead Dreamers”: The British band from Newcastle are now based in Brighton and formed as teenagers in 2008. On the new single frontman Matt Marcantonio says, “The world tried to set itself on fire last year, us included. We had to mutate and figure out what this band was, so we just wrote and wrote until we knew. They’re currently working on their new album with producer Tom Dalgety (Pixies/Royal Blood).

Fictionist–“Lazarus”: From the mini-album, Sleep Machine, out now. The group out of Provo, Utah have opened for Young The Giant, Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees and Vampire Weekend. They say the songs on the mini-album are more interconnected than other records.

Grizzly Bear–“Mourning Sound”: The forthcoming release, Painted Ruins, hits shelves in August. the band are back from their 2012 hiatus and the latest effort took 2 years to make, writing at a retreat last June and remote writing trips.
