Wednesday 1/10 News at Noon

  • Joe Marson–“This Is Magic”: In six years Marson played music in different cities–blues rock in Austin, hip hop in Oregon, folk in Arizona, and jazz in Boston–before settling in Brooklyn. He’s since had his music featured in Deadpool, and on Netflix’s Bloodline and FX’s Justified.
  • Car Seat Headrest–“Nervous Young Inhumans”: A new version of the 2011 song from Twin Fantasy which has been entirely reworked to become Twin Fantasy: Mirror To Mirror and will be released on April 21st for record store day and then more widely later in the year.
  • Marilyn Manson–“God’s Gonna Cut You Down”: A version of the hymn popularized by Odetta and Johnny Cash, from the soundtrack to the film 24 Hours To Live, though it does not appear in the film. Tyler Bates scored the film (as well as John Wick and Guardians of The Galaxy) and is in Manson’s touring band.

  • Erika Wennerstrom–“Extraordinary Love”: Erika Wennerstrom of Eartless Bastards’ debut solo album Sweet Unknown drops in March. She will be touring with Drive-By Truckers in the spring and will be with them for their date at The Jefferson on March 26th.
  • Milck–“Quiet”: Milck originally wrote this song in 2015 with her longtime collaborator Adrianne Gonzalez. She then teamed up with 25 female singers to perform 7 flashmob versions of the song at The Women’s March in 2017. Her EP This Is Not The End is available January 19th.
  • Brett Dennen–“Already Gone”: His new EP Let’s hits the shelves on February 16th and was produced by Semisonic’s Dan Wilson, who recently produced Adele.

  • Curtis Roush–“Getaway”: From the Bright Light Social Hour member’s debut solo album, Cosmic Campfire Music in stores February 9th. The Austin multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter fuses shoegaze with bedroom soul.
  • Good Old War–“That Feeling” Feat. Anthony Green:
    Anthony Green is of Saosin and Circa survive, the band will be in DC on March 13th.
  • Jade Bird–“Lottery”: Off of the British artist’s debut album, Something American. She’s playing at Firefly, South By Southwest, Bonnaroo and more.

Monday 1/15 News at Noon

  • Karen O–“Yo My Saint” Feat. Michael Kiwanuka–The frontwoman of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has released a three fold project in “Yo My Saint”. Not only is it a song, inspired by the Kenzo fashion house, but it has a musical film to go along with it featuring the fashion line.
  • Will Varley–“Seven Days”: From his fifth album, Spirit of Minnie, produced by Cameron McVey (Massive Attack) out February 9th. The record is the first time that the singer songwriter has worked with a full backing band and he will be in DC on March 13th with Skinny Lister.
  • Glen Hansard–“Roll On Slow”: The debut single from his upcoming 3rd solo album, Between Two Shades. It’s the first album he has produced entirely solo and drops on Friday.

  • Hudson Taylor–“Run With Me”: The duo of Irish brothers Alfie and Harry Hudson Taylor have a new EP on the way and US tour dates tba in the near future.
  • Ruby Rose Fox–“Bury The Body”: Off of her new album, Domestic, Ruby Rose Fox recently won singer songwriter of the year at the Boston Music Awards.
