  • Speedy Ortiz–“Lean In When I Suffer”: The video takes place in a Pee Wee’s Playhouse type location and the song is about those people who “want props for their wokeness but don’t want to put in any actual work.” The new record Twerp Verse is out April 27th.
  • August Greene–“Black Kennedy”: From the self-titled Amazon-released debut album. August Greene is a new supergroup of drummer/producer Karriem Riggins, 4-time Grammy winning producer/pianist Robert Glasper, and Academy/Golden Globe/Grammy award winning artist, activist, and actor, Common.
  • Lana Del Rey–“You Must Love Me”: Lana covers Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice’s song from Evita which was originally recorded by Madonna. It is featured on Unmasked: The Platinum Collection, a hits collection that is out now along with Webber’s memoir.

  • Phono Paradiso–“Serenade”: The band name is latin for Sound Paradise, The debut album, Eventually Dear, was recorded and written in a cabin outside of the Olympic National Park in Washington.
  • Let’s Eat Grandma “Falling Into Me”: The sophomore album I’m All Ears is out June 29th. The song is about getting to know someone getting over their fears about feeling insecure.
  • Kodaline–“Follow Your Fire”: My dudes did this really cool thing where they released the lyrics to this song before the actual song and had fans cover it before ever hearing it. Their third album comes out this year and then they’ll be touring and if they don’t come here I will cry.

  • Durand Jones & The Indications–“Smile”: the Indiana-based band are on the bill for Bottlerock and Bonnaroo and the deluxe edition of their 2016 self-titled debut is out now.
  • Preoccupations–“Disarray”: The Canadian post-punk outfit formed in 2012 under the name Viet Cong. Their latest release is called New Material, and you can catch them in DC on April 24th.
  • Stella Donnelly–“Mechanical Bull”: Taken from the Australian/Welsh artist’s debut EP Thrush Metal, this song is dedicated to “people who work in hospitality and have to deal with customers, especially drunk ones, making objectifying comments.” It’s about when she worked in a bar.
