Wednesday 4/11 News At Noon

  • Charley Crockett–“Lil’ Girl’s Name”: From his new record Lonely As A Shadow out April 20th, produced by Matt Rose-Spang (Zac Brown, Jason Isbell, Margo Price). He’s in Lexington on 6/28, Richmond 6/29, and DC 6/30.
  • Dr. Dog–“Heart Killer”: Their new album Critical Equation drops on the 27th and they’re in town at The Jefferson a week before that on the 20th.
  • Neko Case–“Bad Luck”: While working in Stockholm on her upcoming album Hell-On (set for  June 1st release), she received a 3AM call informing her that her house had burned down. She immediately wrote this song.

  • The Get Up Kids–“Maybe”: The Kansas City pop punk/emo band formed in 95 and released their first song in 7 years. The EP Kicker is out on June 9th and they’re in DC on July 15th.
  • Kentrails–“Get Out”: The first single from the solo act Kentrails is about having one of those days when no matter how hard you try nothing goes right and you feel underappreciated and have had enough.
  • Kat Edmonson–“How’s About It Baby”: The singer songwriter is back with her new album Old Fashioned Gal which drops on the 27th. She’s in DC on May 8th.

  • Florence + The Machine–“Sky Full Of Song”: An exclusive release for Record Store Day on the 21st.
  • Rex Orange County–“Loving Is Easy”: The 19 year old Alex O’Connor will be at Outside Lands, Panorama, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga festivals.
  • Walk The Moon–“Kamikaze”: The new album is called What if Nothing and they’re in Bristow on June 26th.

  • Fan Girl–“Out Again”: The Australian 6 piece outfit’s debut album Elephant Room is out now.
  • Island–“The Day I Die”: Taken from the London 4 piece band;s debut album, Feels Like Air.
  • DMA’s–“For Now”: The Australian trio is Johnny Took, Matt Mason, and Tommy Gidel. The new record For Now is out on the 27th.

  • Sam Lewis–“One And The Same”: The album Loversity drops on May 4th and is made up of 14 songs written and recorded over a year and a half. He’s in DC on June 12th and the Nashville artist has collaborated with The Wood Brothers, John Prine, and Kacey Musgraves. Before moving to Nashville he lived in Knoxville and worked full time at Walmart for a decade. The album title came to him while driving in Richmond.
  • Big Something–“Wildfire”: The first single from the sextet’s new album Otherside. Catch them at Lockn’ in August.
  • King Tuff–“Psycho Star”: Kyle Thomas’ album The Other dropped on Friday and was self-produced with mixing from Shawn Everett (Alabama Shakes, War on Drugs). He’s in DC on May 16th.
