Wednesday 5/2 News At Noon

  • Andrew McMahon In The Wilderness–“Ohio”: This version of his brand new song was recorded in the Corner Lounge on location at Virginia Arts yesterday. His new album is being produced by Butch Walker and should be out in the fall.
  • Amy Shark–“I Said Hi”: Her debut record Love Monster drops on July 13th and she is playing Hangout Fest in two weeks.
  • Parquet Courts–“Mardi Gras Beads”: The video for this song is out now, the record Wide Awake is out the 18th, they just played Ellen, and are in Richmond June 15th.

  • James Supercave: The first single since their 2016 debut album, Better Strange. The LA band call themselves “astronauts of inner space”.
  • COG–“Altered States”: The second single this year from the Sydney prog-rock trio was actually recorded in 2008.
  • San Mei–“Wonder”: The stage name of Emily Hamilton, San Mei’s debut EP, Necessary was produced by Oscar Dawson (Alex Lahey, Holy Holy).

Friday 5/4 News At Noon

  • Ships Have Sailed–“Let’s Just Dance”: The duo has been performing together since 2014 and say of the song, “‘Let’s Just Dance’ is a dreamy, exuberant swirl of emotions disguised as a whimsical love song. I wanted to dig a little deeper and explore the struggle of always wanting more no matter what you already have.” 
  • Shadowparty–“Celebrate”: The supergroup features members of A Certain Ratio, New Order, The Verve, Devo, and Primal Scream. 
  • Beach House–“Dark Spring”: The opening track from their upcoming 7th album, 7, out May 11th. All of the songs were recorded at their home studio in Baltmore. The video for the song is out now and they are in DC on August 25th.

Monday 5/7 News At Noon

  • Yungblud–“I Love You, Will You Marry Me”: The debut single from Doncaster England’s 20 year old Dominic Harrison. He describes himself as a “socially conscious artist unafraid of delivering genre bending songs”. The track is the true story of a homeless man named Jason who proposed to a woman who had passed away using graffiti. This ended up being heavily commercialized and profited by apartment owners.  His grandfather played with T-Rex in the 70’s. 
  • VHS Collection–“One”: The New York band says this song is about desperate youth. They’ve played Okeechobee, Lolla, ACL, and more. The band members Nils Wanderlip, Conor Cook, and James Bohannon have all been playing music since childhood but only formed VHS Collection in 2014. 
  • Houndmouth–“This Party”: Their upcoming album drops this summer and was produced by Jonathan Rado (Lemon Twigs, Foxygen), and Shawn Everett (The War on Drugs, Alabama Shakes). Catch them in Norfolk June 15th or DC June 17th.

Tuesday 5/8 News At Noon

  • Tonsu–“A Beautiful World” Feat. Briana Sorgiovanni: The solo project of David Jonker, a producer from Perth Australia who was been working on the song for two years. He is influenced by Odesza, Purity Ring, and Flume and was a drummer before becoming a producer. He is currently working on multiple projects with Perth artists. 
  • Wild Child–“Back and Forth”: From their latest album expectations, the tune was produced by Matt Vasquez and is about knowing when to walk away from someone who isn’t all in on your relationship. 
  • Laura Veirs–“Seven Falls”: The tenth solo album over her 20 year career, The Lookout. Laura’s international tour stops in DC on the 27th.
