Wednesday 5/9 News At Noon

  • Dawes–“Living In The Future”: The latest release from Dawes, Passwords, come out on June 22nd and was produced by Jonathan Wilson (Conor Oberst, Father John Misty). The band will be in Vienna on August 23rd with Shovels & Rope. 
  • Matthew Logan Vasquez–“Sierra Blanca”: Vasquez recently moved to Norway with his family and prior to that he locked himself in his haunted house and made a record in 28 days. He has an EP, Texas Murder Ballads, and an Album, MLVIII on the way. 
  • Rayland Baxter–“Casanova”: The Butch Walker-produced album, Wide Awake, hits the shelves on July 13th. It features Walker on bass, Cage The Elephant’s  Nick Bockrath, Dr. Dog’s Erick Slick on drums, and on keys Aaron Embry who was played with Brian Eno and Elliott Smith.

Thursday 5/10 News At Noon

  • Dave Matthews Band–“Samurai Cop (Oh Joy Begin)”: The new record Come Tomorrow drops on June 8th and the band is playing in Bristow June 9th and VA Beach July 21st. 
  • Bastille–“Quarter Past Midnight”: The upcoming album was recorded and self-produced in their brand new studio–formerly a porn studio–where Dab Smith’s label Best Laid Plans is. 
  • Jungle–“Happy Man”: Taken from the English group’s upcoming sophomore release. At the band’s core are Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland but they become a 7 piece for shows.

Nicki Bluhm – “To Rise, You Gotta Fall”/title track (out 6/1)

Friday 5/11 News At Noon

  • Aloe Blacc–“Brooklyn In The Summer”: The debut single from his forthcoming album which is his first in half a decade. 
  • Arctic Monkeys–“Four Out of Five”: The new record Tranquility Base Hotel And Casino is out today.
  • Milk Carton Kids–“Big Time”: From the new record All the Things That I Did And All The Things That I Didn’t Do drops on June 29th and is a reflection on the changes since their 2015 album both personally as well as politically.

Monday 5/14 News At Noon

  • Brandi Carlile–“Hold Out Your Hand”: From her latest release, By The Way, I Forgive You. It was just announced today that she will be at the Sprint Pavilion on September 28th as a benefit for the Charlottesville Free Clinic. Tickets go on sale on Friday and Jeff has pairs to give away all this week on the College of Musical Knowledge. 
  • Lucero–“For The Lonely Ones:”: Their upcoming 9th album is called Among The Ghosts and the will be on tour with Frank Turner as well as Langhorne Slim. 
  • Jealous Of The Birds–“Plastic Skeletons”: Irish musician Naomi Hamilton’s new EP The Moths of What I Want Will Eat Me In My Sleep is out July 13th. She wrote this track immediately after coming back from SXSW 2016, her first trip to America. US tour dates TBA soon.

Tuesday 5/15 News At Noon

  • Arthur Buck–“Are You Electrified”: Joseph Arthur and Peter Buck of R.E.M. have teamed up again and their debut self-titled album is out on June 15th. Arthur produced it and it was mixed by Tchad Blake (Black Keys, U2, Pearl Jam). All songs were co-written by the duo. 
  • American Aquarium–“Tough Folks”: The first single from the Things Change album out June 1st produced by John Fullbright. Catch them in Rocky Mount on June 14th and Richmond June 16th. 
  • Sam Valdez–“Farther Away”: Taken from her new Mirage EP. Valdez grew up in Las Vegas and played in multiple bands before deciding to go solo.
