Wednesday 7/4 News At Noon

  • Cody Jinks–“Must Be The Whiskey”: The artist from Denton Texas will release his new album Lifers on July 27th and will host his inaugural Loud and Heavy festival in Forth Worth on August 18th. 
  • Stars–“One Day Left”: The first single since the Canadian indie-pop band’s 8th album that dropped last year is about the specific moment between knowing something is over and saying goodbye. 
  • Betty Moon–“Parachute”: From the Toronto-born SoCal-based artist’s latest album Chrome comes an homage to the badass women of rock ‘n’ roll history.

Thursday 7/5 News At Noon

  • Marc Ribot–“Srinivas” Feat. Steve Earle & Tift Merritt: From the LP Goodbye Beautiful/Songs of Resistance 1942-2018, which also features Tom Waits and others. The songs on the record are taken from Mexican protest ballads, WWII anti-fascist Italian partisans, The US Civil Rights movement as well as original compositions.
  • Cordovas–“This Town’s A Drag”: Taken off of the new album That Santa Fe Channel which drops August 10th and was produced by Kenneth Pattengale of Milk Carton Kids. They’re playing Newport Folk, DC on 8/23, Harrisonburg 8/24, and Wise at the Rte 23 Music Fest 8/25. 
  • Jim James–“Throwback”: The new record Uniform Distortion came out last month and is the My Morning Jack frontman’s third solo effort. He wrote this tune while cruising social media.

Friday 7/6 News At Noon

  • The Sea The Sea–“Bang Bang Bang”: The Upstate New York indie-folk duo played The Southern last week with Caroline Spence. The song, taken from their new album From The Light, is about personifying truth and only after they finished it did they realize it sounded like a murder ballad. 
  • Paul Cauthen–“Resignation”: The former Sons of Fathers frontman’s new 7 track EP Have Mercy is out now. 
  • Tash Sultana–“Salvation”: I saw her perform at Hangout! Her debut album, Flow State,  drops on August 31st and she is playing Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and Outside Lands, as well as The Anthem in November.

  • The Red Light Effect–“Empress”: The four-piece post-punk band are from Manchester, England and this is the title track to their new EP. 
  • Dennis Lloyd–“Nevermind”: The 25 year old Israeli multi-instrumentalist, musician, songwriter, producer, and singer’s real name is Nir Tibor. 
  • Portugal. The Man–“Tidal Wave”: The latest single off of Woodstock was co-written with Nick Koenig AKA Hot Sugar.

Tuesday 7/10 News At Noon

  • Pink Slips–“Trigger”: The LA  band is fronted by Grave, the alter ego of Grace McKagan daughter of Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan. The song was produced by AWOLNATION’s Isaac Carpenter. 
  • Magpie Salute–“Can You See”: The band formed by Rich Robinson also includes former Black Crows Sven Pipien and Marc Ford. They’re touring this summer with Blackberry Smoke, Gov’t Mule, and the Avett Brothers.
  • Charles Lloyd & The Marvels and Lucinda Williams–“Ventura”: From the new record Vanished Gardens. Lucinda teams up with the master saxophonist on 5 out of 10 of the tracks.
