Wednesday 9/19 News At Noon

  • L’Freaq–“New Skin”: Lea Cappelli is a Brooklyn and LA based artist whose new EP Weird Awakenings drops on October 26th. She has shared the stage with the likes of Jakob Dylan and has performed privately for Muhammad Ali. The concept of the EP is self-discovery and includes topics such as concealing oneself from the real world, dissatisfaction with a mundane life, and liberating encounters. 
  • Grace Potter–“I’d Rather Go Blind”: Off of From Muscle Shoals: Small Town, Big Sound, a collaborative album that unites eras of multi-platinum and Grammy-winning superstars for the first time also including Jason Isbell, Alison Krauss, Chris Stapleton, Willie Nelson and more. They cover the likes of Etta James, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and tons of others. 
  • Ann Wilson–“Luna”: Ann Wilson of Heart covers Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on her new solo album, Immortal, which came out on Friday. Each of the ten tracks pays homage to some of the singer’s favorite songs and artists, all of whom have passed away in recent years.

  • James Supercave–“Come Alone”: The LA trio calls themselves “astronauts of inner space”. Frontman Joaquin Pastor says that this song speaks directly to a lover, asking them to drop the [BS] and come as they are.
  • Brandi & The Alexanders–“Higher”: New York 10-piece R&B band are fronted by Brandi Thompson. Their songs are Brandi’s personal stories of jealousy, love and regret. 
  • Macy Gray–“Over You”: Her 10th studio album, Ruby, drops tomorrow and includes collaborations with Gary Clark Jr.

  • Raign–“Who Are You”: The first singly from the upcoming album, Sign. The London-born LA-based artist has released 2 EPs but this is her first full-length. 
  • 7Horse–“Man In Black”: The former Dada members challenged themselves to write a version of “Man In Black” that was Led Zeppelin meets Johnny Cash. 
  • Roseanne Cash–“Anyone But Me”: Her new record, She Remembers Everything, drops on November 2nd. It’s her first release of new material in 5 years and features collaborations with Colin Meloy, Elvis Costello, Kris Kristofferson and more.

  • Laura Carbone & The Pains of Being Pure At Heart–“The Flowers Beneath Your Feet”: Kip Berman and Berlin artist Laura Carbone met when Laura opened for them on tour. 
  • Noah Kahan–“False Confidence”: His headlining North American tour with Dean Lewis stops in Vienna on October 8th. He wrote this song when “he felt like he was trying too hard to be what he thought an artist should be instead of who he was”. 
  • Florence + The Machine–“Patricia”: The latest single from High As Hope is an homage to Patti Smith. Florence is in DC on October 5th and 6th.

  • Morgxn Feat. Walk The Moon–“Home”: A slight re-work of the Nashville-born LA-based singer-songwriter’s breakthrough song. 
  • Ural Thomas & The Pain–“Slow Down”: From the 80 year old’s debut album The Right Time, which comes out on Friday.
