Wednesday 11/9 News At Noon

Chuck Prophet–“Bad Year For Rock And Roll”: From his forthcoming album Buddy Fuller Died For Your Sins, which drops on February 10th, 2017. He has a January East Coast Tour but no official dates have been announced yet. He refers to this song as “A song for anyone who has ever had a bad year and battles late night bouts of loss of faith”.

Yoke Lore–“Hold Me Down”: The new project of Brooklyn’s Adrian Galvin, an early member of Walk The Moon. His debut EP, Far Shore, os available now streaming and on vinyl. He also has his own modern dance company, Boomerang, and is a yoga instructor. Tour dates to be announced soon.

Zella Day–“Man On The Moon”: She spent her summer touring with Miike Snow and Fitz And The Tantrums, played Coachella and appeared on Seth Meyers. It’s her first new song since her debut album, Kicker, from last year. She is currently in the studio working on her sophomore album due out in 2017.

Car Seat Headrest–“Not What I Needed”: The band started as the solo project of Leesberg native Will Toledo, who put 12 albums on Bandcamp, but has since become a full band, based in Seattle. Teens of Denial is their first major label album.

Lucy Dacus–Green Eyes Red Face”: Straight out of Richmond, Lucy Dacus’ major label debut, No Burden, is out now. It’s a reissue of her independent first album. She will be at The Jefferson on December 3rd.

Lydia Loveless–“Same To You”: The second single from her new album REAL and she is playing The Southern on Saturday.

Milky Chance–“Cocoon”: The new single from the German duo is the first that they have released since their 2013 debut, Sadnecessary. It was first released on their website where fans had to click through an image pixel by pixel in order to get to it.

Phantogram–“Funeral Pyre”: The first song on their third album, aptly named Three. 

The XX–“On Hold”The new record, I See You, hits the shelves in January and took four years to make. It is described as “10 of the most robust songs of their career”.

Joseph James–“Replace”: The 21 year old New Jersey singer-songwriter’s debut song produced by Pucker B (Trent Reznor, Madonna).

Polly A–“Ghetto Gold Dream”: The title track from Milwaukee’s Meleni Smith’s EP, which is currently available. She has played Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza and toured with Selah Sue.

Sting–“50,000”: The second song on his first rock album in thirteen years, 57th and 9th. His tour pre-sale starts tomorrow at noon and ends at 5 pm on Wednesday.

Jake Clemons–“Hold Tight”: The nephew of the late Clarence Clemons has been playing with the E Street Band in his stead. His upcoming album, Fear and Love, drops on January 13th.

John K. Samson–“Postdoc Blues”: His second solo album, Winter Wheat, is out now. It was inspired by his hometown of Winnipeg and mixed by Robbie Lackritz (Feist, Bahamas). He’s been touring with Frank Turner who is a huge fan.

Norah Jones–“Flipside”: The second single from her latest record, Day Breaks, she will be performing at the 2017 Musicians Person of The Year Concert honoring Tom Petty on February 10th and will be in DC on February 10th.
