Wednesday News At Noon Segment

-Sean Watkins–“Keep Your Promises II”: Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek and Watkins Family hour’s new album What To Fear is out on March 18th. It is the follow-up to 2014’s All I do is Lie which was his first solo record in a decade. He will be in Vienna on April 2nd.

-The 1975–“A Change of Heart”: The fourth track released from I Like It When You Sleep For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It dropping Friday. It features three callbacks to the first album. George Daniel calls them “references” but Matt Healy refers to them as “Easter eggs”.

-The Wet Secrets–“I Can Swing A Hammer”: From the six piece band’s I Can Live Forever EP out now. Lead vocalist and writer Lyle Bell is formerly of the band Shout Out Out Out Out and describes their sound as “Frantic Pop”.

-James–“Nothing But Love”: From the band who brought us “Laid”, their forthcoming album Girl At The End Of The World is out on March 18th. They just announced the album yesterday, and worked on it with Brian Eno who has been a mentor to them for years.

-Peter Wolf–“Wasting Time”: Boston musician Peter Wolf, formerly of The J. Geils Band and DJ on the legendary rock station WBCN’s new album A Cure For Loneliness is out in early April. It is his first in six years.

-You Won’t–“Ya Ya Ya”: Yet another band out of Massachusetts, “Ya Ya Ya” is the debut single from their second album, Revolutionaries which drops in late April. They will be in DC on May 21st.

-Alberta Cross–“Ghost of Santa Fe”: From the band’s self-titled album which is out now. The Music video was directed by Chris Rubino and stars Craig Stark of Django Unchained and Hateful Eight. Watch it here.

-City and Colour–“Wasted Love”: The follow-up to “Lover Come Back”. City and Colour will be playing at Boston Calling on May 18th and Red Rocks on June 28th. Even more tour dates are to be announced soon.

-Joe Bonamassa–“Drive”: From his new album Blues of Desperation which drops on March 25th. He is touring but no dates in the area have been released.

-Hayes Carll–“Sake of The Song”: He’s been called the Daniel Day-Lewis of Alt-Country. His new record Lovers and Leavers drops on April 8th and was produced by Joe Henry. He will also be performing at South By Southwest in two weeks.

-The Jayhawks–“Quiet Corners and Empty Spaces”: From their new album Paging Mr. Proust coming out on April 29th. The record was produced by lead vocalist Gary Louris along with Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists) and Peter Buck of R.E.M. They will  be playing in Rocky Mount on May 17th.

-Sam Outlaw–“Angeleno”: The title track from his latest album, which is out now. It was produced by Ry and Joachim Cooder who are both featured on the album along with members of The Punch Brothers, My Morning Jacket, and Dawes.
