Wednesday 2/8 News At Noon
Angelica Garcia–“Orange Flower”: Garcia currently resides in Richmond and her debut album entitled, Medicine For The Birds, is out now. She says that her mom who sang Mariachi taught her how to sing and her stepdad taught her what to listen to. She grew up in Eastern LA but moved to Virginia with her family after high school when her stepdad became an Episcopalian priest. The album was recorded in the parish house on garage band and she used a shoe box for a drum. Currently on tour, she will return to Richmond for shows on February 18th and 26th.
Pretenders–“Alone”: The title track to the latest album, in stores now. It is the first album in 8 years and was originally supposed to be a solo record. Dan Auerbach produced it in Nashville and plays on it as well. The Pretenders are in town on March 25th with Stevie Nicks and on Austin City Limits TV March 13th, there was a recent Conan O’Brien appearance as well.
You Me At Six–“Give”: The UK band’s latest album Night People dropped last month and was recorded with Jacquire King (James Bay, Kings of Leon) in the famous Blackbird Studios in Nashville and mixed by Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath). A North American tour will be announced soon.

Bell X1–“Bring Me A Fire King”: The Irish band’s 7th album, Arms, is out now. The band produced and recorded it themselves in Dublin and it was mixed by Peter Katis who also works with The National. Singer, Paul Noonan says of the album, “Arms is the idea that as the world feels like it is coming to a harsher place, we seek out comfort in the familiar and the familial”.
Roger Street Friedman–“Everyday”: The first single from his new album, Shoot The Moon, which dropped last month. The song was co-written with Felix McTeigue who is currently up for the Best Americana Roots Grammy for the tune, “Wreck You”, performed by Lori McKenna.
Phish, “More”: They just announced “A Bakers Dozen”, an unprecedented 13-night run at Madison Square Garden July 21-August 6th. Once it is over they will have played MSG 52 times, the first being in 1994.

Hippo Campus–“Way It Goes”: The new single from the Minneapolis band’s debut album, Landmark, out the 24th. They’ve already performed on Conan and CBS Morning with more TV appearances TBA. They have toured with My Morning Jacket, Walk The Moon, Real Estate and Modest Mouse and festivals include Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, South By Southwest and more.
Mark Lanegan Band–“Nocturne”: The title track to the forthcoming release, due out in April. 52 year old Mark Lanegan has been on the music scene since 1984. He collaborated with a pre-Nirvana Kurt Cobain as well as recorded an unreleased album of Lead Belly covers.
Ne-Hi–“Sisters”: The most recent full-length from the Chicago Outfit, Offers, is currently available. Catch them in Richmond on March 25th.

Surfer Blood–“I Melt With You” (Modern English cover): Off of the Love Me half of the Amazon playlist Love Me/Love Me Not. Both playlists include covers as well as originals.
Super Deluxe Media–“Donald Trump’s Tweets As An Early 2000’s Emo Song”: The video was released on Sunday and immediately went viral. Super Deluxe is an entertainment company “committed to amplifying created voices that live just outside the mainstream”.
The Rocket Summer–“FL CA” (Acoustic): One of the original tunes off of the Love Me Not half of the Amazon playlist. The Rocket Summer is the solo project of Bryce Avery who writes, produces and plays every instrument on all of his songs.
