Future Generations–“Stars”: The band met as freshmen in the dorms at Fordham University in New York and their self-titled debut dropped on Friday.

Martha–“Goodman’s Detective Agency”: The UK quartet are self-described “vegan, anarchist, straight edge punks” and their sophomore effort, Blisters In The Pit Of My Heart, is currently available.

Nick Waterhouse–“It’s Time”: His third record, Never Twice, is set for a September 30th release and was produced by Michael McHugh (Allah-Las, Black Lips, Ty Segall) who produced his first album as well. Catch Waterhouse in DC on October 12th.

Thursday 8/4 News at Noon

Amanda Shires–“When You’re Gone”: Her new album, My Piece of Land, was produced by Dave Cobb and drops on September 16th. The album is inspired by a series of milestones and realizations in her personal life, perhaps the birth of her first child with husband Jason Isbell? Catch her in DC on October 21 with John Prine.

Rachel Yamagata–“Over”: Her latest record, Tightrope Walker, comes out on September 23rd. It is her fourth full-length album and she has toured with the likes of Liz Phair, Amos Lee, The Swell Season, David Gray, Damien Rice, and Ray Lamontagne. She will be performing at The Southern on September 22nd.

Yael Naim–“Make A Child”: Older, the newest release from French-Israeli musician Yael Naim is set for a September 2nd release. She is known for her track “New Soul” that was featured in an Apple campaign. This record was inspired by the birth of her first child, the death of her grandmother, and is tethered to world events including the recent attacks on France.

Fil Bo Riva–“Like Eye Did”: The self-taught musician did not have a plan to become a professional musician. He began busking in 2012 on the streets if Berlin (he has also lived in Rome and Dublin) and his career took off from there, leading him to open for Lera Lynn and Aurora. His debut EP is called If You’re Right, It’s Alright. 

The Roosevelts–“Belly Of The Beast”: The duo of Jason Kloess and James Mason call themselves “two brothers in song”. They are not biological brothers. Catch them in DC on October 22nd.
