Videos of the Day – week of 10/31/16

10/31 – an appropriately spooky video (above) to start the week, from the 1st Grandaddy album in 10 years, which is out in March! Frontman Jason Lytle told NPR: “I would have loved to have made a video based exactly on the lyrics of this song, but I really like (director) Chris Grieder’s treatment because the main character (actor Jason Ritter) is an outsider who has taken to wandering and can¹t get accepted (picked up) by a varying array of characters. I felt it was important to place a girl in the cast of characters, someone who had some attachment to the loner guy and perhaps, just perhaps, was responsible for putting him on that lonely road. I have to say my absolute favorite part is the very end (you have to watch it).”

11/1 – oh yeah, there’s a new Shins song that’s pretty spooky too!  While we’re waiting for the new Shins album, James Mercer put this little ditty together, just in time for Halloween (sorry, it came out last week)

11/2 – to continue the scary theme we’ve got going this week, here’s a new one from Slothrust…we’re playing their “Rotten Pumpkin” song tonight on TFR

11/3 – Devon Sproule headlines The Southern tonight & joins up with New Boss tomorrow night at the same venue!  Here’s a funny video Devon & her husband have put together, starring their newborn daughter…

11/4 – Getting ever closer to Election Day, This American Life asked Sara Bareilles to imagine what President Obama might be thinking about the current election and Donald Trump, but can’t say publicly. Leslie Odom, Jr. (of Hamilton fame) performs the song.
