Videos of the Day – week of 11/19/18

11/19 – KT Tunstall directed her latest video…the album Wax came out last month & is the 2nd in a trilogy

11/20 – Sam Fender looks to be bringing guitar rock (remember that?) back to fore.  From North Shields in the UK, he was recently named to the BBC’s Sound of 2018.

Describing the song, Sam explains: “Simply put, ‘That Sound’ is a celebration of music, but it’s also a not-so-subtle middle finger to the naysayers that tend to rear their heads as soon as things start to work out for you, especially back at home. Music was always ever present when I was growing up, and it’s continued to be the most important and intrinsic part of me. It kept me from going off the rails as a kid and it gave me rare purpose and self-confidence that I couldn’t find from anything else.

This song talks loosely about how susceptible you can become to negativity and jealousy, even when you’re at your happiest and most confident. It’s about finding strength to ignore it all, and keep doing your own thing.”

11/21 – Delta Rae released a #MeToo movement-inspired new track this fall & now here’s the video

11/22 – on Thanksgiving Day, we’re thankful for the return of Joy Williams (formerly of The Civil Wars)!  We wished her a happy birthday the other day on Twitter, and not only did she like the tweet, she now follows The Corner!  Joy recently recorded a solo album, Front Porch, produced by Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids. Following the recent birth of her second child, Joy is slowly and steadily bringing the front porch to cities around the US and Canada in advance of the album’s 2019 release.  This new song/video was performed – as she remarks on YouTube – “live while pregnant” on June 5th, 2018 at The Franklin Theatre in Franklin, TN.

11/23 – ICYMI: Jeff Tweedy was on Colbert last week hyping his new book & solo album.  We’ll send this one out to the weekend weather forecast…oh, and GO HOOS TODAY!  BEAT TECH!
