Videos of the Day – week of 7/30/18

7/30 – We start off the week with 3 videos for Monday…Mumford & Sons were the surprise headliner at Newport Folk Fest over the weekend, joined by guests like Phoebe Bridgers on a Radiohead tune, Jerry Douglas & Brandi Carlile for Simon & Garfunkel’s “The Boxer” and a whole cast of characters incl. Mavis Staples for “The Weight” – thanks to our pal Ronda from Charlottesville for getting such great videos (she even made Rolling Stone!)

8/1 – Norah Jones has a couple of new songs out in recent weeks, and a new live DVD, recorded at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s in London.

8/2 – Sons of Bill returns to their hometown Saturday at The Jefferson.  We’ll have James Wilson take us track by track through their new Oh God Ma’am album Friday at 3pm in the Corner Lounge.  Here’s their official new video – gotta love the home movie footage!

8/3 – Our Derek Trucks phone interview airs today as Tedeschi Trucks Band gets set to play 2 sets at Lockn later this month…here’s the full band doing a Sly Stone medley this past weekend at Red Rocks!

8/4 – here’s a fun one for Friday…Slaves has a couple of cheeky new videos out.  Their new album is out in 2 weeks.  The plotline on this one is they’re looking for a new drummer…One by one, in walks Ben Thatcher (Royal Blood), Joel Amey (Wolf Alice), Dom Boyce (Peace), Joey Jordison lookalike (Slipknot) Sam Doyle (Maccabees), Amber Grimbergen (HINDS), Yorkshire’s No.1 Peter Criss lookalike (KISS), the Phil Collins loving gorilla from the Dairy Milk advert and the one and only Dave Rowntree (Blur).

UVA Medical researchers find possible molecular issue in Down syndrome development

 University of Virginia School of Medicine researchers have found lack of development of a particular molecule essential for central nervous system development and function could cause faulty brain circuits seen in Down syndrome individuals.
